Info

I wrote this song while playing folk clubs in Liverpool. It's basically a love song, but for the city not for a person. It's much more folky than I usually play, but I'd say it needs to be for this sing a long number. It's funny though, I am the type who gets homesick, and when I do it's the city I miss. I have the good fortune of visiting many towns as a musician and have fond memories of lots of them, but Liverpool has a special place in my heart. It has a real buzz, and those who know it will know just what I mean.

Lyrics

I've travelled the nation with my occupation
I've met different cities and their populations
None were unpleasant and none were unkind
None were like Liverpool, true love of mine

Oh true love of mine, you know that I need you
Just like a lover who's captured my heart
True love of mine, I'll never leave you
I get so lonesome when we are apart, are apart

A city that bustles with gossip and rumour
And even the bus stops rebound with the humour
Where everyone waits for the 79
Outside the Adelphi in True Love Of Mine

When I'm sat alone in a strange city's bar
For we are apart
The sound of the Liverpool accent is all
It needs to quicken my heart
